Seventy-eight artists entered a record 133 works for consideration this year, from which Juror Kristen T. Woodward chose 57 pieces to be included in the exhibition. Berks County students have 17 works of art included in a companion exhibition in the Café Gallery.
“The Frank Scott Memorial Art Show: The Art of Jazz” and the Frank Scott Memorial award were founded during the 2005 Berks Jazz Fest by Berks Arts Council, along with local businessman and artist Jerry Holleran. The Frank Scott Memorial events honor legendary local jazz musician Frank Scott and are made possible through the generous support of the JerLyn Foundation.

Juror's Statement

“It’s a daunting task to be faced with making inevitable selections necessary for a single exhibit from a great body of work,” shared Woodward.  “In addition to seeing evidence of the theme through subject matter or visual movement, I also looked for works that had a palpable artistic vision. Originality of communication was considered alongside the idea of sincerity or authenticity.” - Kristin Woodward, painter/printmaker and arts educator
