Country Singer Timmy Brown Comes to Berks Summer Fest

Timmy Brown, the country singer/songwriter/guitarist who performed with his band in City Park last summer, will return as one of the main attractions at Berks Arts’ Berks Summer Fest on Saturday, September 23 at 2 p.m. on the Supportive Concepts Main Stage on the ballfield at First Energy Stadium.

All six Berks Summer Fest concerts, on September 22 and 23, are free of charge, with free parking in the nearby lot.

Brown, who grew up in Norton, Massachusetts, started out as a classically trained pianist and singer, but fell in love with country music listening to artists like Randy Travis, Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan and Jason Alean.

He picked up a guitar, practicing four or five nights a week in his uncle’s garage, and never put it down again. Encouraged by his grandmother, who shared his love of music and taught him piano, Brown had performed in local clubs using recorded backtracks, but once he added guitar, he started attracting a loyal fan base.

Brown released his debut EP, “Leave This Town,” to critical acclaim in 2016. He was named New England Country Music’s Local Male Artist of the Year for the fourth time in 2019. Around that time, he moved to Nashville, Tenn., to further his already burgeoning career as a full-time performing and recording artist. Then, in 2020, the Covid pandemic stopped his live shows for a year and a half.

“I was lucky,” Brown said in an interview last year. “I have a great fan base and great people around me. I did live streams on Venmo and on social media twice a week. I can’t thank them enough for supporting me. I was able to get by.”

Now he is in the midst of a tour, in which he can engage in real life with that fan base. On the eve of Saturday’s concert, Brown will perform at Cheers American Bistro in the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading at 6 p.m. After his Reading appearances, he will have two concerts in Nashville, and then four in Massachusetts.

Brown released his debut album, “Good Life,” in 2021, and “Good Life – Live From Nashville” the same year. Later that year, he released “A Very Timmy Brown Christmas.” His latest release is the single/video of his original song, “The Way You Look Tonight,” in April 2023, part of a string of singles he is dropping about every six weeks.
