Identity: The Journey of Expression

Call for Entries
Alvernia University announces the 2024 Exhibit Identity: The Journey of Expression featuring artists who have had an impact on the visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more.  This exhibit seeks to create a dialogue on what influences an artist to create, their methodology, the sacrifice, and the inspiration for the present and future.  

Exhibit Dates
The exhibit runs from January 25, 2024 – March 4, 2024, in the Miller Gallery located in Francis Hall.

Show Features
Installation: January 22-26, 2024
February 7, 2024 – Public Opening - Noon
February 23, 2024 – Cultural Coalition Event – 5:00 PM, Francis Hall
Artist Talks with students, faculty, staff, and community members as artists are available.

Submission and Eligibility
All works must be dropped off at Francis Hall on either January 19 or January 22, 2024.
All mediums are eligible.
All works must be original and created by the person submitting the artwork.
Art size may be limited to our ability to display.
Work must be suitably mounted and ready to hang, including glass protection where appropriate. Clip frames and sawtooth hangers will not be accepted.
All frames must have hanging hardware, including wire and safely cushioned glass. Indicate the top of each work by placing an identity tag with artist's name and the name of the piece at the top.
For 3D work, place the artist identifier tag on the base of the work.

Artists interested in submitting artwork to the show must contact Lynn Gano or Meggan Kerber to provide samples of artwork electronically before dropping them off.

Alvernia University reserves the right to photograph artwork for purposes connected with this and future exhibits, used in promotional materials, website, and social media. All reasonable care and security measures will be taken in handling and displaying works submitted. Artists are responsible for insuring their works of art. Participating artists understand that Alvernia University is not responsible for any theft, loss, or damage to artwork while they are hanging or on display or if the artwork is temporarily removed for any reason.
