Joel Evans

Joel Evans is going into his final year at Temple University in the Music Education with Jazz Studies program. While in high school at Muhlenberg, Joel participated in various music festivals for classical percussion, drum set, and vocal performance including the All-Eastern Orchestra. At the 2019 All-Eastern Festival, Joel received the Irene R. Christman scholarship, which is given to one outstanding student in Pennsylvania who is going to be studying music education in college. Throughout high school, he was also involved in two small Jazz Ensembles, the first being Mambo Combo, which was comprised of 6 students from his school district, and Trading Four, which was comprised of four students from different Berks County schools. Trading Four, a two-time winner of the Chuck Loeb Memorial Scholarship, played across Berks County and performed at Berks Jazz Fest. In college at Temple University, Joel has been a part of the Diamond Marching Band on cymbals, including section leader for one year, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Small Jazz Ensembles, and the drummer for Jazz Band Number 4. Joel would like to thank Berks Arts for this scholarship that will help support him in his final year at Temple University.
